HOW TO CREATE A SHOW PROGRAM

This page walks you through the steps to create a show's program and create a link in order to create a QR code for audience to download the program.
At first glance this may seem like a lot of steps, but it will save you having to create each program from scratch in Sawyer for every production, because this is using an existing template with a lot of information already filled in, or which is replaceable. These steps actually take way less time than reinventing the wheel on Sawyer each time.
HOW TO CREATE PROGRAM QR CODE.
1. Open Word document titled: PROGRAM BLANK, and Save As a Word doc titled: PROGRAM NAME OF SHOW.
2. Open the show's Word doc, and personalize it:
replace the HSM graphic with the show's graphic,
enter the name of the show,
enter the dates and time of the show
copy and past as many Cast, Crew and Show Production bio blanks as you'll need,
replace photo for each person,
replace bio wording for each person - check the doc PROGRAM REPEAT PEOPLE for bios you can cut and paste.
3. Save as pdf.
Be sure the page breaks are in good places.
4. Create a new text box below.
Click on plus sign, up left. Click on text. Click on any "I'm a paragraph.
Write in text box the words: PROGRAM NAME OF SHOW.
5, Create a link.
Highlight those words.
Click on the link symbol.
Click on Document.
Click on Choose File.
Click on Upload Media, and upload pdf: PROGRAM NAME OF SHOW
Once file appears, select it, and click on Add to Page (button bottom right)
Click done.
6. Find the link's URL.
Click Publish - upper right hand corner, then done.
In another tab, go to www.thevenuetheatre.com/program
Click on the PROGRAM NAME OF SHOW LINK
Copy the URL that appears in the search bar.
Create another text box below the PROGRAM NAME OF SHOW TEXT BOX
Paste the URL.
Click Publish again, just to save your work so far.
7. Create a QR code.
Open the URL above.
Click on the three dots.
Hover over Cast, Save and Share
Click on Create QR Code.
Click on Download.
Once downloaded onto your desktop, rename file QR PROGRAM NAME OF SHOW
Test QR code with your phone!
8. Revise PROGRAM poster for lobby and house.
Open word file PROGRAM POSTER.
Replace old Name of Show with new one.
Replace old show QR code with new one.
Print out 6(?) copies.
Take down old posters in lobby and house.
Post new posters.
