Classes begin Wednesday, June 17th!

Class sizes are limited to 8 students and 2 instructors. Students will enter through one door and exit through another. Social Distancing will be practiced during all classes. The studio space will be sanitized prior to class and all door knobs and restrooms will be wiped down between classes.

INTRO TO TAP FUNDAMENTALS

12:00pm – 12:55pm; June 17th, 24th, July 1st, July 8th, July 15th

An introductory class for beginners that puts the fun in the fundamentals of Broadway Style Tap. Come and meet your dancing feet in this hour long class that will teach you the basics, from shuffling and flapping to turning and riffing, and will have you tapping away to choreographed combinations in no time. Ages 10 and up.

INTERMEDIATE TAP

1:15 – 2:10pm June 17th, 24th, July 1st, July 8th, July 15th

Price $85 for 5 weeks

A class for those with some tap experience, looking to practice the basics of fundamental technique with slightly more advanced execution, leading up to an “Audition” combination at the end of class. Ages 10 and up.

SCENE COMPOSITION FOR THE ACTOR

3:30 – 4:25pm June 17th, 24th, July 1st, July 8th, July 15th

Price $85 for 5 weeks

A creation based class for actors to write scenes and have them performed by their peers. At the top of class we will issue writing prompts which are to be performed by all the actors (Including us) at the end of class. In this course we will not only discuss the process of effective dramatic writing, but acting as well. 55 minute class, ages 13 and up.

MONOLOGUES FOR THE ACTOR

A technique class for actors to practice Monologues. Resources to find monologues will be shared, monologues will be coached, and performed in this 55 minute class. 13 and up.

SUMMER CLASSES STAFF

Jenna Haimes

Jenna is a New York-based actor, singer, dancer, and choreographer. She currently serves as the Director of Development for Nerve Project Theatre Company (recently welcomed into the Alliance of Resident Theatres New York City 2019) in addition to being a company member. After graduating from Illinois Wesleyan University with a BFA in Musical Theatre, she worked continuously regionally. Favorite regional credits include Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Hunyak in Chicago, Ruth in Wonderful Town, and Kaye in The Taffetas. She eventually ended up at The Historic Barter Theatre working in the Barter Player company, performing for young audiences at Barter and on tour, as well as with the Resident Company. She transitioned into the Resident Acting Company where she earned her Equity eligibility. She has since studied at Broadway Dance Center and Steps on Broadway in New York City, having completed the International Independent Study program at Steps. She has choreographed productions regionally, touring, and Off-Broadway. She is a student at Kimball Film Studio, and her most recent work in film can be seen on Amazonprime, to be released in 2020. She has a love of fitness, and works with clients regularly as a NASM-certified personal trainer and barre instructor. Originally from Colorado, she enjoys hiking, snowboarding, and bike riding. She is grateful to be in the mountains and working with young theatre artists. Joe Veale

Joe is a NY- based actor, singer, and dancer with a fondness for dogs and four-leaf clovers. He is Co-Founder and Artistic Director of Nerve Project Theatre Company, recently welcomed to the Alliance of Resident Theatre’s New York City in 2019. Recent Off Broadway credits include: Enter Laughing (Marvin, U.S David, and Dance Captain—York Theatre), Great Expectations (Pip—Hudson Guild Theatre), and The Wrong Box (Wickham—Theatre for a New City). Before moving to NY, Joe worked extensively regionally as a member of the Resident Acting Company at the Historic Barter Theatre. Favorite regional credits include: The Rivals (featuring Tony winner Harriet Harris and director Eric Tucker), Peter and the StarcatcherAltar Boys42nd StreetFootloose, and ISO Yuletide (featuring Frankie Morino). BFA Musical Theatre/Professional Acting (Meisner Cert.) East Carolina University. @therealjoeveale. @nerveprojecttheatrecompany.

Nelson Conway

Nelson retired from a 25-year career teaching music and drama in 2007. He studied music under Dr. George Lynn at Loretto Heights College and Lynn Whitten at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He studied technical theater with Joseph Psuik, drama and musical theater under Richard Clark, Tom McNally and Jan Sullivan. Nelson started the choral and drama departments of Conifer High School in 1996 and has directed and produced countless shows. Nelson founded The Venue in 2013.
